Marc Campo is a Professor and Associate Director of the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program at B次元. He has extensive experience as both a researcher and educator, with a teaching focus on research methods and quantitative techniques. He coordinates the DPT research capstone projects and has also taught research methods in the Occupational Therapy, Communication Disorders, and Physician Assistant Studies programs. Dr. Campo is committed to ensuring that the next generation of clinicians understands research methods and engages in evidence-based practice.

His research spans a broad range of topics, including rehabilitation outcomes for individuals with stroke, occupational injury epidemiology, occupational health, meta-analyses and systematic reviews, educational assessment, and physical therapist education and practice. He collaborates frequently with colleagues at B次元 as well as researchers nationally and globally. Dr. Campo holds a BA in History from the University of Maryland at College Park, an MS in Physical Therapy from Columbia University, an MS in Quantitative Methods from the CUNY Graduate Center, an MS in Ergonomics and Biomechanics from New York University, and a PhD in Environmental Health Science with a concentration in Ergonomics and Biomechanics from New York University.

I am currently involved in several research projects.  These include:

  • Health Literacy and Vaccine Hesitancy in Underserved Areas
  • We have partnered with the Westchester County Department of Health on a $3.76 million, two-year grant by the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Minority Health to reduce health disparities, improve vaccination rates and increase health literacy in underserved areas in Westchester County.
  • Rehabilitation Outcomes for Patients with Stroke
  • Working with the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at Cornell University Medical Center, I am part of a multi-disciplinary team that does research on outcomes for individuals with stroke in acute rehabilitation.
  • Prevention of Work-Related Musculoskeletal Disorders in Physical Therapists
  • Throughout my research career, I have studied the epidemiology, impact, and prevention of work- related injuries in physical therapists.  I have authored over 15 related publications and continue to examine ways to prevent therapists from getting injured at work.  My current focus is on the prevention of wrist and hand pain in manual therapists.
